Thetaphone was born in 2007 when the first iPhone was released. The company specializes in developing apps for iOS (iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch) and tvOS (Apple TV).
Robert Jen earned his stripes programming 68000 assembler on Fat Macs, although he hacked around a little with BASIC on an Atari 400 before that. When he got his first PDA, a PalmPilot Pro, in December 1997, he immediately decided to quit his day job to develop applications for it. A decade later, Robert bought an iPod touch and experienced the magic a second time, eagerly awaiting the day Apple would release an SDK for developers to use. After a year of writing web apps, that day came, and he began to write his first Objective-C app. That app, THETA Poker, was released in September 2008. Nearly four and a half years later, its sequel was finally ready after three years of work, and THETA Poker Pro hit the App Store in February 2013.
THETA Poker Pro is a universal purchase ($3.99 in the U.S.) for Apple TV, iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. There are no ads or in-app purchases.
THETA Poker Pro is the only fully accessible No Limit Texas Hold 'Em app for tvOS and iOS. A large and very loyal group of blind and sight-impaired users have helped to make the game as easy to play as possible.
THETA Poker Pro's features include:
Realism: The AI's play is designed to replicate how real humans play, while the gameplay includes almost everything you'd see in a real cash game or tournament, including blind and payout schedules, table balancing, chipping up, dead buttons, and tighter play at each major bubble.
Speed: You can play 1,000 hands per hour or more without multitabling, making it an excellent, always-available, instant practice partner.
Strength: The local AI will challenge most casual poker players and is adjustable to match your skill level.
Configurability: Dozens of settings can be adjusted to mimic your favorite ring game or tournament. Or you can play through the default Career Mode without ever changing a single option.
Replayability: THETA Poker Pro's users have played millions of hands of poker in the app, yet very few have ever conquered the World Championship on the game's highest difficulty setting.
Featuritis: After nearly a decade of active development and responsiveness to user requests, THETA Poker Pro has something for nearly everyone. For online players, there's a Heads Up Display to investigate precisely how your opponents are playing. For casual players, the current hand can be easily shared or posted to social media. For serious players, the complete hand history can be emailed and imported into various PC and Mac analysis tools (iOS only for now). For the statistics-minded, data is available for your current table, event, and entire career.
